Ohio ROX Program: ROX Cohort gains confidence in standing up for themselves.
Ohio ROX Girls’ Story
A Story About: A 5th grade ROX Cohort from Ohio
Submitted by: Melanie Hartle, Licensed School Psychologist, ROX Facilitator
Key ROX Program Outcomes: Increased confidence and ability to defend themselves
Did You Know? 9 in 10 girls feel safer and more confident that they can defend themselves after participating in The ROX Program for Girls.
“We invite the moms/important females in our girls’ lives to participate in the ROX self-defense lessons. Our school is primarily Hispanic, and we are able to offer ROX in both Spanish and English. It's amazing to hear the female family members share messages of confidence with their girls.
Our families feel more connected to our school and are more willing to reach out when they need support. ROX has helped to uplift their voices.”
-Melanie Hartle, LSP, ROX Facilitator
